e-Learning: Assessment
Welcome to my home page for the e-learning session about using assessment and feedback
on-line. The first point to consider is the two-way nature of assessment and feedback as we are assessing students
learning they are feeding back to us their assessment of their learning and how well our module has facilitated this.
The purpose of this session is to discuss the ways in which we might use on-line
assessment and feedback with students. It is restricted to formative assessment of students as summative assessment raises many issues
that need to be dealt with at the institutional level
There are a number ways of doing on-line assessment that we might consider:
-
testing student understanding of basic material;
- getting quick feedback from students about their response to an activity;
- collecting more detailed feedback about the module;
After we have discussed some of the above points we could try out some on-line activities for ourselves so that we might gain a
little experience to help inform our ideas.
To do do this use the "Activities" link on the left.
After trying these activities try answering the following questions:
- How do you see on-line assessment and feedback working within your teaching?
- Can you list some characteristics of effective on-line assessment and
feedback?
