I run a number of staff development sessions on developing the pedagogy of e-learning. These concentrate on how and why e-learning is used to enhance student learning not on the mechanics of using WebCT or an active white board.
Currently these sessions are on offer:
- e-Learning: Improving student grades Which looks at the reasons why you should, or should not, use e-learning in your teaching.
- e-Learning: Discussion and activity. Which discusses how the discussion areas of WebCT can be used for a variety of learning activities.
- e-Learning: Assessment and feedback. Which considers the role of on-line assessment and feedback in the enhancement of student learning.
[ I am looking into the possibility of running the above sessions on-line. Preliminary material is here.]
Please contact me if you want to do any of these staff development activities.
In previous years I have run a number of sessions which you might also want to look at:
- Writing
web pages with Dreamweaver
If you are thinking of writing web pages then this is the session with which you should start. - Designing
a web site with Dreamweaver
This session is a follow up to the previous session and is required if you are going to put your pages onto a server. - So
I have Dreamweaver. What do I do now?
In this session you will get an opportunity to revise and extend your use of Dreamweaver. - Using
Javascript to enhance your web pages
You may want to add such things as rollover buttons to enhance the look of your web pages. - Developing
e-learning
This is an on-line module to allow members of staff to experience on-line learning in a "safe" environment. The minimum involvement will be fifteen hours over a period of twelve weeks. There will be some deadlines but the interactions will generally take place at a time convenient to the participants.
