Important Notes
- Please ensure that you attend this session or alternatively that you contact me to discuss your assignment.
- In this session we will discuss individual assignments to ensure that they have the potential to satisfy the assignment criteria.
- As well as an discussing the four publishing methods as outlined in this example you should write a section explaining how and why you built your web site as you did. This is NOT part of the 2000 words for the written part of the assignment. Code may be annotated on the home page to explain how your design works.
Work for this week
The activities for this session are given below, there are no additional details this week.
Which of these activities you do will depend on how much work you have already done on your assignment. You must do enough by the end of this session so that I can judge that you have a viable project.
Organising your assignment
-
Establishing your basic ideas
First you will develop your ideas for your assignment by making decisions about:
- your target audience(s);
- the web publishing methods you want to use;
-
Planning your assignment
You will then plan your assignment and as you do so you might plan your web site:
- to allow appropriate navigation to your comments about the different publishing methods
- to be an example of your
ability to publish on the web [ There will be a section of your assignment which will discuss and explain your design decisions.]
Putting Your assignment together
You may then start to assemble you assignment by:
- look at the pros and cons of the different publishing methods;
- investigate and evaluate what others have said about these methods;
- You might also continue work on aspects of the site itself by adding these ideas into your web pages
-
Evidencing your own work
For each of the technologies you decide to use in you assignment you should evaluate your own use of the technologies and use this as some of the evidence to support your discussion.
-
Pulling it all together
Finally you should give a coherent argument about what combination of your chosen technologies will best suit your target audience discussing how and why this combination is optimum.
Which of these activities you do will depend on how much work you have already done on your assignment.
You must do enough by the end of this session so that I can judge that you have a viable project.
-
Reporting on your project
Go to your module blog and make a post
"Activity 1101: Where I am with my assignment "
Finally you are asked to outline how far you are with your assignment so far.
You should go to your module blog and say how much you have done so far.
For example you might answer the following questions:
- who is your identified "audience"?
- what are the characteristics of these and what are their needs?
- what technologies do you intend using in your assignment and why?
These are only examples and you can say what you like as long as you give an update.
P. S. You might also refer back to previous messages on the module blog or your own blog.
