Introduction

This week we will extend our ideas to the whole web site. In doing so we will look at how CSS can help us to format our site and make it more useable and accessible.

Usability and accessibility

Is there a conflict between "looking good" and usability.

There are a number of ways we can use CSS to produce effects that help with usability e.g.

• Simple rollovers
• Adjusting line spacing
• Using borders, padding and margin

Issues about navigation

There are a number of navigation systems you might use e.g.

• Navigation menus
• Breadcrumbs
• Links within the text

The techniques you choose may be influenced by your site structure.
